Last week, I’ve mostly been worried about what will happen to us :)
As Fox News reports, One-third of small business owners worried their company won't survive 2024. The actual numbers would be much higher I believe.
The going is going to be tough for us. For starts, we have the big tech and media companies to thank. Some of the issues that affect independent researchers, writers and family-owned online retail outlets:
AI Content Spam: We’ve spent decades doing the research and writing. Now, anyone can simply copy it, quite gracefully I can say. Even your search engines plagiarize content with no apparent credit to the original authors.
The Big 3 Providers of Email to Shutdown Newsletters.
This is a big area of concern for us, especially because we don’t have millions to advertise. Our networking is based on old customers, referrals and business prospects we think would form a good partnership. It will be impossible to send newsletters as early as Feb 2024. So do wish us luck! I would say, if you do want to support us, simply reply to this email, so we can get our stats up a bit, but I’m not sure if that will indeed work.Coupled with blocking email newsletters, tech and media companies will increase rates of services for small businesses.
Taxes will keep going up except for the poorest and those who don’t work. All this to support the poor and ‘businesses’, but we all know where the money ‘goes’.
The result of these actions by the lobbyists and their chosen ones, are easy to see. Rising prices, more profits for Amazon and Big G, and total control of what people can do (no out-of-the-box thinking allowed).
Perhaps the doom and gloom is reserved for the minorities (in this case small businesses), nothing new here! But hopefully businesses that have built good relationships might survive. But it would require strong efforts with partners, so we can work better together and promote each other.
