In 2007, a milestone publication in Nature Medicine by Japanese scientist, Ohsawa which reported that molecular hydrogen is a novel selective antioxidant. Together with its biological safety that had been well acknowledged in diving medicine, a bright prospect of molecular hydrogen was brought into research and possible clinical application. Remission of symptoms was observed after hydrogen treatment in a variety of conditions including ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury, metabolic syndromes and inflammation. Promising results were also obtained from preliminary clinical trials on arthritis, diabetes-related disorders, periodontitis, etc.
Inhalation of molecular hydrogen (H2) gas was also found to reduce oxidative stress-induced acute injuries in the brain. H2 increases the mitochondrial membrane potential and the cellular ATP level, which are accompanied increased glutathione and superoxide levels. Hydrogen increases the expression of anti-oxidative enzymes underlying the Nrf2 pathway thereby improving the resistance to exacerbated oxidative stress.

Pulsed Electromagnetic field therapy
Blood, muscle, ligaments, bone, and cartilage have all been shown to respond to bioelectromagnetic fields.
